Final Trip Blog! Our Day at Har Herzl, Machane Yehudah and Kotel Tunnels--and an Awesome Dinner!

Even our last day in Israel is action packed! We got our luggage to the lobby early, even after a night of celebrating New Year’s. Some people even watched the ball drop in Times Square at 7 AM Israel time!

We spent a couple of hours visiting Israel’s important military cemetery known as Har Herzl. A highlight of the visit was with several members of our group guided us and taught us about such important Israelis as Yonatan Netanyahu, Michael Levin, Shimon Peres and Yitzhak Rabin. We also participated in a special ceremony with those three Israeli soldiers, and we sang Hatikvah

Our next stop was at the Conservative Movement center on Agron Street; where we used a classroom for a group processing session. We discussed highlights of the trip and the impact of the trip on each of us. We heard from each participant as well as from all staff members.

Our final destination before our farewell dinner was at the very well-known Kotel Tunnel Tours. We had the opportunity to walk along the wall, as close as one is able to get to the site of the ancient Holy of Holies . Even though it can be a little bit closed in in the tunnels, everyone had a great experience. We also learned that 11 million people visit the Western Wall every year.

We just had an amazing multi course dinner at a very nice restaurant, Focaccia Bar, on Emek Refaim Street. We said goodbye to one participant, who is staying in Israel with her family. And we said bye to our beloved guide, guard and driver. We are now at our gate, waiting to board in about 20 minutes! See you soon!

What an amazing trip we have had!! Thanks for entrusting is with your awesome children!
